HUG 2012: Share

Share Your Best Practices and Implementation Stories

Consider sharing your knowledge with other users and industry experts at an upcoming Symposium. If you have a recent case history, project implementation, technical achievement, or a unique application, we welcome your success stories. Topics of interest range from alarm and asset management implementations to best practices in physical and cyber security.

Benefits of Presenting at Honeywell Users Group
Sharing your expertise at HUG is not without its benefits. For starters, your HUG registration fee will be waived, and you and a guest will be invited to attend a special Speakers Reception.  We can help develop your presentation in an article for placement in a range of industry-leading trade publications. Presenters also meet one of the criteria for becoming a member of the Users Group Steering Committee, and have the opportunity to network with other industry leaders.

Let Us Do the Work
We recognize that your time is valuable and limited, so Honeywell offers resources to help you prepare your presentation at no cost to you. Our writers will draft the copy and work with you for review and approval.

How to Apply
If you are interested in presenting at a Users Group Symposium, please send an email to usersgroup@honeywell.com with a brief description of what you would like to present (see sample abstract below).

Process for Selection and Materials
A user-led steering committee reviews and approves all presentations and sessions. You will be notified of their decision shortly after submission. Presenters who are approved will be sent a speaker's package and presentation template to guide them through materials needed. The package also offers audiovisual tips and support.

Sample Abstract
Implementation of an EBR System Based on POMSnet
A MES system using the weigh and dispense module was implemented in 1999. During the years new functionalities like component verification were developed so that the implemented MES system is now highly customized and can no longer be upgraded. In 2001 a kernel upgrade to 5.1 was made to convert the MES 4.2 system from Windows NT to Windows 2000. From 2005 until 2006 a concept was developed with Honeywell to overcome the MES 5.1 gap of EBR capability. In June 2006 a decision was made to analyze differences and evaluate EBR capability between the current MES system and POMS.net. This presentation gives an overview of the architecture of MES 5.1 including a brief introduction of the EBR concept based on the legacy system. It discusses the gaps of POMSnet in comparison to the functionalities given in the current MES 5.1 system. Additionally the paper discusses the expected benefits of using POMSnet to implement an EBR system.
